چکیده

The purpose of this note is to introduce a method for proving the existence of no rational points on a coarse moduli space X of abelian varieties over a given number field K, in cases where the moduli problem is not fine and points in X(K) may not be represented by an abelian variety (with additional structure) admitting a model over the field K. This is typically the case when the abelian varieties that are being classified have even dimension. The main idea, inspired on the work of Ellenberg and Skinner on the modularity of Q-curves, is that to a point P = [A] ∈ X(K) represented by an abelian variety A/K̄ one may still attach a Galois representation of Gal (K̄/K) with values in the quotient group GL(T`(A))/Aut(A), provided Aut(A) lies in the centre of GL(T`(A)). We exemplify our method in the cases where X is a Shimura curve over an imaginary quadratic field or an Atkin-Lehner quotient over Q.

Rational Points on Atkin-Lehner Quotients of Shimura Curves

We study three families of Atkin-Lehner quotients of quaternionic Shimura curves: X, X 0 (N), and X D+ 1 (N), which serve as moduli spaces of abelian surfaces with potential quaternionic multiplication (PQM) and level N structure. The arithmetic geometry of these curves is similar to, but even richer than, that of the classical modular curves. Two important differences are the existence of a no...

Arithmetic Teichmuller Theory

By Grothedieck's Anabelian conjectures, Galois representations landing in outer automorphism group of the algebraic fundamental group which are associated to hyperbolic smooth curves defined over number fields encode all arithmetic information of these curves. The goal of this paper is to develope and arithmetic teichmuller theory, by which we mean, introducing arithmetic objects summarizing th...

Singular Moduli of Shimura Curves

The j-function acts as a parametrization of the classical modular curve. Its values at complex multiplication (CM) points are called singular moduli and are algebraic integers. A Shimura curve is a generalization of the modular curve and, if the Shimura curve has genus 0, a rational parameterizing function exists and when evaluated at a CM point is again algebraic over Q. This paper shows that ...

Rational Points of Quiver Moduli Spaces

For a perfect field k, we study actions of the absolute Galois group of k on the k-valued points of moduli spaces of quiver representations over k; the fixed locus is the set of k-rational points and we obtain a decomposition of this fixed locus indexed by elements in the Brauer group of k. We provide a modular interpretation of this decomposition using quiver representations over division alge...

Galois deformations and arithmetic geometry of Shimura varieties

Shimura varieties are arithmetic quotients of locally symmetric spaces which are canonically defined over number fields. In this article, we discuss recent developments on the reciprocity law realized on cohomology groups of Shimura varieties which relate Galois representations and automorphic representations. Focus is put on the control of -adic families of Galois representations by -adic fami...
